NSNA Students - Regina And Alyssa

On Saturday, December 1, Southeast Missouri Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences students who are members of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) participated in an Ugly Sweater 0,5 K Fun Run at HealthPoint Plaza in Cape Girardeau. This event raised $250 for an NSNA scholarship along with many non-perishable food items for Plentiful Packs. Faculty members Jill Sanders, MSN, RN, and Lisa Moses, Director of the Associate of applied Science in Nursing program, worked with the NSNA students to make the project a success. Plentiful Packs are distributed to children in the Anna, Illinois School District where, on Friday afternoons and on the day before holiday breaks, the Student Council at the school packs backpacks full of kid friendly food to be sent home to families in need. For the last several summers, a weekly pickup of food has also been established for these families. Local churches, businesses, and individuals contribute regularly to keep this program going. At this time, there are over 20 families in this small district that benefit from the program.
