Clinical Lab Assistant

This program will prepare students for entry-level positions in clinical laboratory settings such as medical centers and outpatient laboratory facilities.

Clinical Laboratory Assistants perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, quality control, and waived testing under the supervision of qualified laboratory staff.

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant program is a 1-year program that meets Monday through Friday. Classes begin every August.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. GPA requirement (one of the following):
    • If 18 or more semester hours of college-level courses are completed, overall college GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale plus completion of a high school diploma or approved high school equivalency exam
    • If less than 18 semester hours of college-level courses are completed, overall college GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale plus high school GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale or completion of an approved high school equivalency exam
    • If a current high school student, completion of at least the junior year with a high school GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale
  2. Exam requirement (one of the following):
    • ACT composite score of 19 or higher taken less than 5 years ago
    • ATI TEAS score of 54% or higher (if age 23 or older)
  3. Completion of all immunization requirements
  4. Clearance on various background checks
